比較級の簡単な考え方

比較級をいざ使おうとした場合
案外とまどう事がある

落ち着いて考えれば
わりと簡単に理解できる。

基本的な使い方は「AよりもB」と言う
使い方だ

ここで気をつける事は比べる単位は同じ
って事だ

別の単位は比べる事ができな
あたりまえだよね

その単語は形容詞か副詞になる

A) Taro is tall (太郎は背が高い)
B) Hanako is tall (花子は背が高い)

AよりBの比較をする場合　then を使い
２つの分を接続する。

Taro is taller then Hanako.
太郎は花子より背が高い

比較級は必ず下の関係となる

〇〇　＞　〇〇

Hanako  is shorter then  Taro.
花子は太郎より背が低い

形容詞、副詞を比較級にする場合のルール

通常   末尾に er を付ける
tall → taller

e       末尾にrを付ける。
late → later

子音＋y 「y」を「i」に変えて、末尾に「er」を付ける。
busy → busier

1母音＋子音 語尾の子音字を2つにして、末尾に「er」を付ける。
big → bigger

もうひとつルール

以下の単語の場合は、スペルを変えずに頭にmoreをつける。

a～ Pit is more angry than Taro.
「ピットは太郎よりも怒っている。」

～ful Pit is more cheerful than Taro.
「ピットは太郎よりも陽気だ。」

～est Pit is more honest than Taro.
「ピットは太郎よりも正直者だ。」

～ish Pit is more foolish than Taro.
「ピットは太郎よりも愚かだ。」

～ous Apple is more precious than oranges.
「リンゴはオレンジより貴重だ。」

～less Pit is more careless than Taro.
「ピットは太郎よりもそそっかしい。」

～ly Apple is more costly than oranges.
「リンゴはオレンジより高くつく。」

～ed Pit is more surprised than Taro.
「ピットは太郎よりも驚いている。」

～ing　Pit is more amusing than Taro.
「ピットは太郎よりも面白い。」

3音節以上 Pit is more beautiful than Taro.

「ピットは太郎よりも美しい。」

「オレンジジュースよりリンゴジュースのほうが少ない。」

many(たくさんの：数)
much(たくさんの：量)
比較級 は more
There are more apples than oranges.
「オレンジよりリンゴのほうが多い。」


具体的にどのくらい違うのか説明する比較

少し
a bit Pit is a bit taller than Taro.
ピットは太郎より少し背が高い。

少し
a little Pit is a little taller than Taro.
ピットは太郎より少し背が高い。

だいぶ
a lot Pit is a lot taller than Taro.
ピットは太郎よりだいぶ背が高い。

はるかに
much Pit is much taller than Taro.
ピットは太郎よりはるかに背が高い。

はるかに
far Pit is far taller than Taro.
ピットは太郎よりはるかに背が高い。

よりいっそう
even Pit is even taller than Taro.
ピットは太郎よりいっそう背が高い。

よりいっそう
still Pit is still taller than Taro.
ピットは太郎よりいっそう背が高い。

1インチ Pit is one inch taller than Taro.
ピットは太郎より１インチ（2.54センチ）背が高い。

比較級　 and 　比較級　(ますます）
Taro is getting taller and taller.
太郎はますます背が高くなっている。

「the + 比較級 + SV…, the + 比較級 + SV~」

　で「…すればするほど、ますます〜」

The more you practice, the stronger you will become.
